About
Coach Glend Penueco, ISSA1 CSCS2
Coach Glend grew up playing basketball and volleyball and spent most of his free time engaging in outdoor games and physical activities. Fitness became a serious consideration for him when he applied to be a PMA Cadet. He began lifting weights, cycling, and running, which continued until he finished college. While taking a caregiving course, a classmate introduced him to fitness coaching, which led to him completion of basic and advanced instructor’s courses, fitness seminars, and workshops to equip himself with the knowledge needed in fitness coaching.
He had the opportunity to work under the supervision of Coach Jim Saret, a well-known Strength and Conditioning Coach in PBA and The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition. He received an accreditation from The Manila Polo Club Fitness Center and provided services to Club members as a Personal Fitness Trainer for more than 10 years before becoming a Gym Manager.
To continually improve his knowledge in fitness, he made continuing education a priority to better guide his clients. He stayed up-to-date with the latest trends and research through workshops and seminars while working as a Personal Fitness Trainer and Head Coach at one of the popular 24/7 gyms in the country to familiarize himself with the gym setup. Currently, he is into one-on-one fitness coaching, virtual coaching, and serving as a Fitness Consultant in a College Campus in Quezon City, handling group Circuit Training.
1 ISSA stands for the International Sports Sciences Association, which is an organization that provides education and certification for fitness professionals. The ISSA Strength and Conditioning certification is a program designed to teach trainers how to design and implement effective strength and conditioning programs for clients of various fitness levels and athletic abilities. The program covers topics such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, program design, and coaching techniques, among others. Upon completion of the program and passing the certification exam, trainers are qualified to design and deliver safe and effective strength and conditioning programs for their clients.
2 Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) are fitness professionals who have a strong understanding of exercise science, including anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, and nutrition, and can use this knowledge to help clients achieve their fitness goals while reducing the risk of injury. CSCS professionals typically work with athletes in a variety of sports, including team sports, individual sports, and endurance sports.
